MREF Surveys

2026 survey: menopause and mental health — suicidal thoughts

The MREF is please to launch our 2026 survey on Menopause and mental health: suicidal thoughts. This survey is being run in conjunction with Diane Danzebrink’s Menopause Support network and Dr Sophie Behrman, a psychiatrist with an interest in menopause and menstrual health. We understand this is a difficult topic and we are inviting those who have had suicidal thoughts during menopause to take part. But, please only proceed if you feel you are able. And please remember there is emergency help at hand via the NHS on 111 or through organisations like the Samaritans on 116123 in the UK.

The Menopause Research and Education Fund's Sexual Health Survey is out!

We are pleased to announce the release of our report on our Menopause and Sexual Health survey.

It shows women are enduring painful sex for fear of losing their partners, that help isn’t always easy to find and where your from and the colour of your skin can affect the advice and treatments you are offered.

It’s a sobering read with some calls to action for change.

Education courses

Calling all HCPs - our next Menopause Education day is Nov 26

On Nov 26 we will be hosting our education day for registered healthcare and allied healthcare professionals. It’s an all-day, CPD accredited event, but you can watch later. It covers topics from the basics right through to managing complex cases. It is overseen by UCL’s reproductive and menopause specialist, Assoc. Prof. Vikram Talaulikar, and presented by BMS registered menopause specialists and a pelvic floor physiotherapist.

New CPD course for registered pharmacists

The Menopause Research and Education Fund is pleased to announce 2 education days for November. The first is our new course for registered pharmacists. The course is a practical introduction to menopause and hormone replacement therapy, the Genitourinary Urinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), lifestyle, and how to start sensitive conversations with patients. It’s been developed especially for and by pharmacists and is presented by pharmacists and BMS registered menopause specialists.
